Yesterday, 19-year-old LiAngelo Ball declared for the NBA Draft, even though it’s hard to find any scout that says he’s an NBA talent. He followed up his declaration by hanging 72 points in a Big Baller BRand sponsored exhibition against the Guangdong Southern Tigers, a Chinese youth club. 72 points is 72 points, but if you watch the highlights, the Tigers looks like an undersized high school team, and the defense is … well there isn’t really any defense.
It clearly wasn’t a coincidence that LaVar chose to make the NBA announcement on a day where LiAngelo was guaranteed to put up a monster stat line. This PR move may fool BBB die-hards, but NBA scouts know the deal. LiAngelo wasn’t going to play at UCLA this year. He’s not an NBA player, let alone a one and done.
Watch Gelo’s 72, and you be the judge.
