Unlike many recent generational athletes, 8-time Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt did not have a fairy tale ending to his career.
After finishing 3rd in the 100 meter finals of the World Championships, Bolt returned for his final race, seeking redemption in the 4×100 relay finals, the event he and Jamaica have dominated for over a decade.
Instead of blowing the field away like he has so many times before after grabbing the baton on the anchor leg, Bolt pulled up with a leg injury and failed to finish his last race.
Great Britain won, but who cares?
Bolt’s incredible career deserved better than this, but Father Time remains undefeated. If Bolt can’t outrun him, no one can.
