The sporting goods chain Modell’s has a longstanding ad campaign where NFL players go undercover as salespeople and try to sell merch without the fans knowing who they are.

Enter Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who recently played the undercover role, but things went sideways when he tried to push his own jersey to a mouthy kid who wanted a Saquon Barkley jersey. The kid didn’t politely decline the offer, he poured salt on the wound by calling Shepard a “trash” player.

Even after revealing he was actually Sterling Shepard, the kid didn’t take back his words. He seems sweet. Shepard still played catch with the kid, and didn’t seemed to fazed by the diss. He did admit maybe he needs to step it up a little on the field.
