Peyton Manning’s Saturday Night Live skit parodying a heartfelt United Way commercial is probably the funniest athlete sketch in the history of the show. For those that haven’t seen it, Manning takes the time to play football with a youth group, but then goes full Sheriff and starts cursing them out in between beaning them in the head with darts from the pocket. He also teaches them how to steal a car, and tells them he won’t hesitate to kill a snitch.
Speaking at an event on Wednesday, Manning said he was about to pull the plug on the skit because he was uncomfortable drilling kids in the head with footballs – which were actually Nerf balls. Peyton was ultimately convinced when a parent ran up to the director and demanded that Manning drill his kid in the face for the shoot. Manning obliged and the rest is comedy history.
Watch Peyton tell the hilarious backstory.
“I want him to hit my kid in the face.” 😂
