It would be an understatement to say that Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide fanbase is a conservative majority, but Saban just surprisingly threw his weight into a political ring by cutting an ad in support of West Virginia Democrat Senator – and former Saban high school football teammate – Joe Manchin in his knock down, drag out re-election campaign.
Fellow West Virginia heavyweights Jerry West and Bob Huggins also appeared in the 30-second spot. Saban saying “Roll Damn Manchin,” would have been catchier, but this is OK.
