Mike Tyson has been at the center of some of the biggest fights in boxing history, but his September 7, 1996 Las Vegas fight against journeyman Bruce Sheldon will be remembered for preceding the murder of rap legend Tupac Shakur

As centerpieces of 90’s celebrity culture, Tyson and Tupac became friends, and Tyson was brought to tears during a recent radio interview when discussing seeing Tupac for the last time at the press conference following the fight. After seeing Pac at the presser, Tyson just went home, and was later awoken with the news of the fatal hit on Shakur.

Even to this day, Tyson still has to fight back the tears when recalling it.
