31-year-old “free solo” climber Alex Honnold became the first climber to scale the massive 3,000 foot face of Yosemite’s El Capitan without the aid of any ropes or safety gear.
A 60 Minutes profile piece showed footage from the climb that would terrify most people, and now there’s a new documentary from National Geographic detailing the historical climbing feat with more breathtaking footage. He can literally die at any second, but doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. Some people are just wired differently. Here’s the trailer.
This footage of Honnold free soloing El Sendero Luminoso in Mexico is several years old, but it’s more climby, less talky. This dude.
