The Cavs dismantled the Raptors 115 – 84 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night. The Cavs are 9-0 in the Playoffs and look unstoppable.
Today in The Herd, Colin said this Cavs team is considerably better than LeBron’s championship teams with the Heat.
“If you compare the Cleveland and Miami LeBron teams, it is not even close. In Miami, Mario Chalmers was a liability at point. Kyrie Irving is maybe the most skilled point guard in the East.
In Miami you had Chris Bosh, who once scored zero points in a Game 7, missed games, and was reduced to a perimeter player. In Cleveland you have Kevin Love. I’d say it’s a wash at best, but right now with Bosh’s health, and how his career is going to end up, Love’s going to have the better career.
In Cleveland you have a strong bench, in Miami you had a weak one. In Miami you had no size, in Cleveland you have all sorts of size.”
Kyrie Irving has been the biggest factor in the current Cavs Playoff run. He was hobbled throughout the Playoffs last year and missed all but one game of the Finals. He’s healthy now, and increasingly dominant. His ascension has lifted a significant scoring burden from LeBron’s shoulders.
Vegas odds makers agree with Colin that the Cavs are a legitimate threat to win the title. Vegas has the Cavs favored against Oklahoma City if they meet in the Finals. They are only a two-point underdog in a Game 1 matchup against defending champion Golden State. A virtual toss up.
