Zion is a Top 20 NBA player, right now
Yesterday, Colin said that Zion Williamson will be an immediate superstar when he hits the NBA, and today he’s doubling down by saying he’s a Top 20 player in the league, right now. Obviously, he’s a tier below the elite veteran title winning superstars like LeBron James, KD and Steph, but when Colin did his comparison strictly evaluating him as a player – not including the impact of his massive popularity – he could only find 19 players in the NBA that he would rank ahead of Zion.
The reality is that if teams could trade their Top 20 players for Zion, they’d do it in a heartbeat. No GM in his right mind would pass on Zion to keep Gordon Hayward, or Kyle Lowry level players. He’s the most influential rookie to enter the NBA since LeBron James was selected with the #1 overall pick by Cleveland in 2003.
