This is the end for Big Ben
The Steelers got smoked by the Jags, at home, on Sunday, and Ben Roethlisberger threw 5 interceptions in the loss. After the game Big Ben questioned whether he still had what it takes to get it done. Roethlisberger has openly questioned the organization in the media for the past several years, and was talking retirement this past offseason.
Colin thinks it’s obvious that Big Ben is already mentally done with the NFL because once a player is talking retirement, there’s no turning back. The Steelers will win games this year, but this looks and sounds like Roethlisberger’s final season in the league.
Lay off the “Jim Harbaugh can’t coach” talk
Michigan just dropped another game to in-state rival Michigan State on Saturday, and immediately some were pointing out that his record in rivalry games was almost identical to his predecessor Brady Hoke, who was run out of town as a failure.
Colin thinks this is ridiculous because it doesn’t take into account that Hoke entered a down Big Ten, and got a win against Ohio State before Urban Meyer had arrived, and beat up on a Penn State team fresh off the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Harbaugh, on the other hand, came into the conference during its ascendency. Ohio State under Meyer is a perennial Top 5 program, James Franklin has rebuilt Penn State into a contender, and Paul Chryst at Wisconsin is maybe the most underrated in the country.
Even though they may have comparable stats at this point in their Michigan coaching careers, Harbaugh is an elite coach, Hoke wasn’t even close. Anyone saying otherwise is a dope.
