The Thunder are an analytics nightmare that’s doomed to fail
The Thunder have cobbled together their own version of a Big 3 after trading for Carmelo Anthony. Some think the combination of Westbrook, Paul George, and Anthony make the Thunder the second-best team in the West, but Colin disagrees.
In a three-point league, Oklahoma City is an analytics nightmare. None of their Big 3 can shoot the three, and all are ball dominating, volume shot takers. There aren’t close to enough shots to satisfy all of them, and it’s only a matter of time before this experiment ends in failure, and the departure of George to the Lakers. Westbrook may follow.
This hastily assembled trio is a desperate attempt to keep Russell Westbrook from leaving in free agency like Kevin Durant, and it’s doomed to fail.
NFL players don’t have an obligation to provide an “escape for fans”
President Trump ignited a firestorm with his weekend tweets about NFL player protests during the national anthem. The result was the largest amount of player protests to date, and an intense two-sided debate about free speech and respect for the flag,
Many have lamented the intrusion of politics into sports, because they see sports as their “escape” from everyday life, but Colin doesn’t see it that way. The country is divided and more politicized and polarized than ever, and professional athletes have as much a right as anyone to engage in the political discourse and protest.
That doesn’t mean everyone has to agree with their actions. Some will choose to boycott the league, and that’s their right. The beauty of America is that we passionately disagree, that doesn’t end when someone puts on an NFL uniform.
