The Patriots cheesy pregame celebration was the opposite of what built their dynasty
The Patriots went all in on an over the top banner celebration last night, complete with Roger Goodell trolling towels, 28-3 scoreboards, and a cheesy speech by Boston native Mark Wahlberg. New England forgot to show up where it counted, and got smoked 42-27 by the Chiefs in the actual game.
Colin thinks the over aggrandized ceremony was against everything the Patriots stand for, and what has led to them winning 5 Super Bowls. The Patriots are about keeping your head down, doing your job, and “no days off.” Last night was the opposite of that, and the whole thing looked low rent.
It’s time for SEC fans to admit the conference is eroding
Other than Alabama, the SEC had an underwhelming opening weekend, including Texas A&M and Florida both losing. A&M lost to a mediocre UCLA team, and Florida got manhandled by Michigan.
All Colin is hearing from SEC fan boys this week is that neither of those teams should be considered as top tier teams in the conference, and their losses don’t reflect on the entire conference’s strength. But, Florida isn’t just “some team,” they were a national powerhouse until Urban Meyer left, and A&M doesn’t count either, according to message board warriors.
This has left Colin asking, who does count, outside Alabama? No one?
The SEC is a one trick pony, and outside of Bama, won’t have another 10-win team this year. It’s time to for fanboys to acknowledge the reality the conference is eroding. Compared to the deep Big Ten, it’s not even close.
