The Lakers have the leverage with Paul George

Reports saying the Cavs are not generating any interest with a trade offer of Kevin Love for Paul George are just more good news, in a great week for the Lakers.

Colin thinks the last 36 hours have been the franchise’s best in years. They’ve shed Timofey Mozgov’s albatross contract, are about to get Lonzo Ball tonight, and now it looks like Cleveland won’t be getting George as a rental, eliminating any chance that LeBron could somehow convince him to stay. At this point, it’s more likely that LeBron and George could both end up in L.A. net year.

Say what you want about Magic Johnson, but he is off to a hell of a start running the Lakers.

Phil Jackson should trade Porzingis

It looks more and more like the Knicks are willing to deal Kristaps Porzingis, and could do so before the draft tonight. Knicks President Phil Jackson commented during an interview last night that he would be open to dealing the pick.

Jackson is getting killed in New York for trading the franchise’s only star, but Colin thinks the trade could land a haul for the Knicks. Porzingis is a nice player, but he’s the latest New York sports star to be hyped as a superstar by a thirsty New York media, but he shouldn’t be untouchable, at least not in the Knicks situation.

New York needs players, the Celtics have assets. This deal feels like it should happen.

“People are treating him like he’s Patrick Ewing. He’s not.”
