The Giants officially have no idea what they’re doing
The Giants and GM Dave Gettleman couldn’t take Duke quarterback Daniel Jones fast enough with the sixth overall pick in the first round last night, and in the process proved they have no idea what they’re doing with their rebuild.
After taking Saquon Barkley in last year’s QB rich draft, Gettleman settled on a lesser product in Jones this year, and didn’t get anywhere near the value he would have had he traded a second rounder to Arizona for Josh Rosen and stocked up on defense. Gettleman also has already come out publicly and named Eli Manning the starter, and stated he’d be fine sitting Jones for multiple years like Aaron Rodgers. The big question for Giants fans heading into the draft was if Gettleman was incompetent or cooking up a secret genius plan to shock the world. He wasn’t. This is bad.
