The Giants benching Eli Manning was the right move
The 2-9 Giants benched Eli Manning, which led to an immediate wave of internet outrage over the decision. Even though the Giants are getting killed for the benching, Colin thinks it was the right move.
From an on-field standpoint, Eli has been bad for years, and has continued to decline this year, but more importantly, if New York tanks the rest of the season by playing Geno Smith and Davis Webb down the stretch, they could end up with the #2 pick in the draft, and have a chance to draft their quarterback of the future in Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen.
Even though it’s a messy situation to cut bench Manning now, it’s the best thing for the organization in the long run.
“Eli Manning in 2013 was arguably the worst quarterback and if it wasn’t for OBJ this move would’ve been made three years ago.”
