The Browns taking Saquon Barkley with the #1 pick would be a huge mistake
After an off-the-charts NFL Scouting Combine performance, the Browns are reportedly considering taking Penn State running back Saquon Barkley with the #1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Colin thinks this would be a huge mistake.
Even though Barkley is an unquestioned game-breaker, there are a number of running backs that are at least comparable in terms of potential NFL productivity that will be available well into the later rounds. Among the available quarterbacks, there are only a handful of potential franchise changers, and the Browns need one badly.
Baker Mayfield sounded like Johnny Manziel at the combine
Colin has said on several occasions that he would take Baker Mayfield off his draft board because he doesn’t want a franchise quarterback that’s been caught on video running from the cops.
At the combine, Mayfield was praised by many for his ‘swagger’ for saying he was the best quarterback in the draft and could turn around the Browns. Colin thought it came off as cocky and lacking self-awareness, much like Johnny Manziel.
He compared the way Mayfield answered questions to the professional demeanor Sam Darnold answered his, and it’s just not good enough.
