Tennessee can still salvage their disaster of a coaching search by hiring Lane Kiffin or Kevin Sumlin
The University of Tennessee coach search debacle took another turn today, when the university fired AD John Currie for his role in the dumpster fire. Even though this search has been a disaster, and has harmed the Tennessee brand, Colin still thinks they can salvage the situation by hiring either Lane Kiffin or Kevin Sumlin.
Colin believes that even though Kiffin had to sneak out of Knoxville in his first stint as coach, he’s proved he’s an elite coach based on what he did as the OC at Alabama, and by turning around Florida Atlantic in one year. He also thinks Sumlin would be a solid hire and a good fit because he’s an elite recruiter and is already familiar with the pressures of coaching in the SEC.
Either coach would be a good choice, but after what’s transpired to this point, who knows if either will get the call.
Dak Prescott is more than a game manager, but still needs help
The Cowboys got their first win since Ezekiel Elliott began his six-game suspension, thanks in large part to Dak Prescott getting the support of 182 yards rushing by Elliott’s replacements.
Colin sees Prescott as more than a classic “game manager,” but thinks last night proved that he still needs a balanced offense to consistently win games at this point in his career. Ultimately, Colin sees Prescott as a “B/B+” level franchise quarterback, but those expecting him to be able to carry the team on his back to the playoffs are off base.
