Lillard eclipses Westbrook

Damian Lillard knocked the Thunder out in the first round with his 40-foot buzzer beater over Paul George, capping off a clutch 50-point Game 5. Russell Westbrook manufactured a beef with Lillard throughout the series, but was ultimately outplayed in every conceivable fashion by Portland’s star ij another humiliating playoff exit.

Westbrook finished the night with 29 points, but needed 31 shots to get there, and showed again why his game isn’t built for playoff success. In an NBA that values efficiency and shooting, Westbrook has been eclipsed by Lillard. It’s time for him to step back and concede Paul George is now the franchise’s best player, even though he won’t.
