LeBron’s not giving up the East and Kyrie is a better player than Steph

Kevin Love and J.R. Smith are out for the Cavs, Toronto has added mediocre Serge Ibaka via trade and the media is already questioning the certainty of the Cavs making to their 3rd straight Finals. Their lack of faith is disturbing.

In Colin’s opinion, it’s absurd to think that Serge Ibaka is going to change the balance of power in the East. LeBron has already played in more games than Michael Jordan with the Bulls and is showing no signs of slowing down. Serge Ibaka isn’t stopping him.

If Cleveland is healthy in the Playoffs, or close to it, they should come out East. Colin also thinks that in a matchup with the Warriors, Kyrie Irving is a superior overall player than Steph Curry, as he proved in last year’s Finals.

“I think Kyrie overall is a better player than Steph, I think he’s more skilled. I think Steph’s a better shooter.”

McGregor’s like Ali, Mayweather’s like…boring.

Mayweather/McGregor is reportedly close to going down, and even though Colin thinks the fight is going to be awful, he understands why people want to watch it. Colin thinks the fight itself will be a disaster, but the event will sell record numbers of Pay Per Views because the public always watches interesting and compelling stories.

He also thinks that despite his undefeated record, Floyd Mayweather is boring. He’s all about money. Great. That doesn’t make him interesting. The real draw in this fight is McGregor. He’s the most compelling figure in either fight game right now showman instincts in the spirit of Ali. He also thinks he’ll probably get destroyed in the fight.

“Conor McGregor is our Ali.”

U Conn’s dominance is boring.

The U Conn Women’s Basketball team just won their 100th game in a row and there’s no question it’s a remarkable streak and Geno Auriemma is a fantastic coach.

While U Conn’s dominance as a program is unquestioned, Colin thinks it’s also fair to point out that their competition level in the women’s game is so poor that they’re rarely even challenged.  He thinks the women’s game has become more of a monument to U Conn than a competitive sport.

“Part of the story is, women’s basketball is just a U Conn history museum. That’s all it is.”

Draft Mitch Trubisky, but don’t trade for Jimmy Garoppolo? Really?

The NFL Draft is coming up and the paralysis by analysis season is well underway. Mitch Trubisky is currently ranked as the top quarterback in the class.

Colin is dumbfounded that people are so quick to throw cold water on the idea that teams would give up a first round draft pick for Jimmy Garoppolo, when Trubisky is a one-year starter who struggled against all his best competition.

There’s NFL tape on Garoppolo and people aren’t sure, but they’re ready to turn over their franchise to a one-year starter who couldn’t put away Duke. It makes absolutely zero sense.

Guests:

Chris Broussard – FS1 NBA Insider is in-studio to discuss Kevin Love’s knee surgery; if there is any legitimate threat to the Cavs in the East; how many peak years he thinks he has left; if he thinks Magic is the answer to run the Lakers; if he thinks the NBA could make James Dolan sell the Knicks.

Glen “Big Baby” Davis – NBA Champ with the Celtics is in-studio discussing LeBron’s remarkable lack of injuries; why he’s amazed by LeBron’s discipline in taking care of his body; what a road trip looks like from an NBA player’s perspective.
