Jon Gruden and the Raiders should have paid Khalil Mack
The Raiders decided to trade All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Bears for a couple of first round picks, and Colin thinks it was another big mistake by Jon Gruden’s new regime.
Gruden has stated that Oakland had to trade Mack because his contract – along with Derek Carr’s – would leave them so strapped under the salary cap that it would be difficult to field a competitive roster. Colin thinks Mack is a once in a franchise player at arguably the second most important position next to QB. Additionally, the salary cap is set to increase, so the contract wouldn’t be as much of a burden as some are claiming. They’ll look to replace him in the draft, but they won’t. They should have just paid him.
Nike has always been willing to face Kaepernick-like controversy
The internet exploded yesterday when it was announced that Nike announced Colin Kaepernick would be part of their latest marketing campaign, and was met with predictable polarized reaction, divided along political lines.
Colin wasn’t surprised by Nike’s decision, because throughout its history, Nike has always been willing to take heat from controversy, dating back to Charles Barkley declaring he was not a role model, and sticking with Tiger and Kobe when other sponsors abandoned them after controversy.
Some companies are built to withstand the heat and discomfort from controversial decisions, Nike is one of them.
