In New York, Aaron Judge has “face of the franchise” maturity, Odell Beckham doesn’t

Aaron Judge and the Yankees got a big win over the Twins in their play-in game to advance to face the Indians in the first round, and Colin is continually impressed, not only by Judge’s ability to maintain an even keel, and his overall maturity.

When compared to the other massively popular New York sports star, Odell Beckham, maturity is the biggest difference. Beckham is probably the most popular player in the NFL right now, and wants to be among the highest overall players in the league, but Colin would never make him the face of a franchise because he’s immature and erratic.

Judge’s demeanor is Jeter-like, which is what it takes to survive in the New York media jungle. With Beckham, it’s all drama all the time.

The NBA GM survey looks clueless by omitting Steph Curry

The results of the annual NBA GM survey were just released, and Colin had to do a double take when he saw who they named as the player they would most like to build a franchise around, and who was left off.

The survey named Minnesota center Karl-Anthony Towns as the player they would most like to build around, but 2-time NBA champ, and 2-time NBA MVP Steph Curry only received a few token votes. This makes Colin question what NBA they’ve been watching, because it isn’t the one he sees.

Aside from the fact that Towns is a center in a guard/wing league, and no centers have led their team to a title in a decade, Curry is 43-13 in the playoffs, and his game is based on his shooting, which he should be able to do at a high level well into his 30’s.

Give Colin the best shooter ever, and the best ball handler in the league, over a center that’s never won a playoff game.
