Gruden’s A Better Brand Than Coach

Gruden’s a better brand than coach

The Raiders will make their Hard Knocks debut tonight, and Colin thinks Jon Gruden will be right at home in front of – what most coaches think – are the distraction of 24/7 cameras. During a recent press conference, QB Derek Carr disclosed that Gruden films his presentations to the team. Why? Only Gruden knows, but Colin sees it as more of a TV guy move than one you would see from a winning NFL head coach.

Gruden is a huge star, and he – not the players – are being billed as the biggest draw as the team transitions to Las Vegas. The problem from an on-field perspective is that he’s better at being a star than being a coach.
