Gruden is a great TV star and an average head coach
Jon Gruden’s return to the NFL sidelines has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster, and reached a new low after the Niners undrafted 3rd string QB Nick Mullens blew the Raiders out in his first NFL start.
Colin never bought into the Gruden hire and hype, and it’s clear now that Chucky’s best skill is selling himself, not winning NFL games. Yes, Gruden did win a Super Bowl with a Tampa team that was served up on a silver platter with Tony Dungy’s players, but he’s never proved he can actually build a winner. Also, his label as a “QB Guru” is more marketing than reality, and has taken a further hit as former Pro Bowler Derek Carr has regressed to a shell of his former self. Gruden is a great TV star, he’s just an average head coach.
