Gottlieb in for Colin:
Witten’s move only makes sense if he’s Dallas’ next HC
Jason Witten shocked the football world, yesterday, when he announced that he would be leaving the Monday Night Football booth after one season to un-retire and play another season for Dallas. Doug thinks there’s more to Witten leaving a four-year guaranteed contract in one of the choicest jobs in all of sports broadcasting than just love of the game.
When connecting the dots, Witten obviously isn’t a long term answer at tight end, but the move makes sense if he’s waiting in the wings to take over as head coach if Jason Garrett is let go next season. Witten is a perfect Jerry Jones “in the family” hire, and has relationships with multiple new assistants on the staff, including OC Kellen Moore and Jon Kitna.

– 5 Cowboys tight ends Doug would rather see than Jason Witten
– Kyler Murray’s biggest obstacle isn’t his height
– Bryce Harper should have signed a shorter deal
– LeBron not playing like a Top 10 player right now
