Doug Gottlieb in for Colin:
Thunder fans should worry that Russell Westbrook hasn’t signed an extension
With all the focus on Kyrie Irving’s trade demand, and if LeBron James will leave Cleveland after next season, today Doug pointed out that there’s another superstar that still hasn’t committed long-term to his franchise that no one is talking about, Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook has a five-year “supermax” offer from the Thunder on the table, and can agree to it at any time, but has yet to do it. It seems Westbrook is more than willing to see how this season plays out and if recently acquired Paul George will stick around before signing up long term.
The longer Westbrook drags it out, the more nervous Thunder fans will get, and rightfully so. They’ve already seen what happened with Kevin Durant.
All in on Jameis Winston
The Tampa Bay Bucs are the featured team on HBO’s Hard Knocks this year, and Gottlieb thinks the biggest winner from the team’s appearance has been Jameis Winston.
After controversial incidents in college, many questioned Winston’s maturity to handle himself off the field in the NFL, but he hasn’t gotten in any trouble in the NFL so far, and under the Hard Knocks microscope, his leadership of the franchise jumps off the screen.
Gottlieb is believer in Winston’s ability, and no longer has any concerns that he will revisit the immature issues from college. He’s all in on Jameis Winston, on and off the field.
