KIRK Cousins deserves better than the Redskins
After failing to re reach an agreement on a long-term contract with sort-of franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins, Washington team President Bruce Allen made headlines when he repeatedly called Cousins, ‘Kurt’ in a radio interview discussing the negotiations.
Cousins responded that the mix up was ‘fine,’ but, as Doug pointed out, “fine” usually means the opposite. Regardless, the name issue is just another example that the Redskins don’t value Cousins and aren’t willing to commit because they are always looking for greener grass at quarterback. Is Cousins a top-5 NFL quarterback? No, but he’s good enough and better than what they can replace him with. The hesitancy and lack of interest by the Redskins is just the latest sign that the organization is still a mess.
LeBron never blames himself
Word was leaked to the press that LeBron James is unhappy with the Cavaliers lackluster offseason, which has seen them fail to acquire impact players like Jimmy Butler and Paul George. Doug thinks GM LeBron’s insistence to force the team to overpay for players like Tristan Thompson and JR Smith has handcuffed the already over-the-cap Cavs in their pursuit to add more pieces. To be fair, dysfunctional owner Dan Gilbert firing GM David Griffin surely didn’t help matters.
Gottlieb thinks these comments follow a pattern throughout LeBron’s career. He places blame on those around him instead of taking any accountability for his role in the situation.
Doug has seen this movie before, and usually when LeBron starts complaining, it’s a sign he’s headed for the exits. This is just the first breadcrumb to place blame on anyone but himself when he decides to hit the door.
