Doug Gottlieb in for Colin
Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss are who we thought they were
The news that Hugh Freeze resigned as head coach of Ole Miss spread like wildfire across social media. Calls from Freeze to an escort service were discovered which led to his firing. It’s a black eye for the program, who went from middle of the SEC pack to hauling in #1 recruiting classes under Freeze.
The whispers that Ole Miss was dirty have been around for years, but whatever plausible deniability that existed is now gone with the collapse of Freeze. They say if you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin, it’s clear that Ole Miss and Freeze were tryin’ for a long time.
Sometimes things are what they seem.
O.J. Simpson’s getting paroled is a win for the justice system
O.J. Simpson was granted parole from Nevada State Prison after serving 9 years of a 331/2 year sentence for a botched robbery attempt. Gottlieb has said that he thinks Simpson got away with double-murder for the 1994 killing of his ex-wife Nicole and Ron Goldman, but he thinks justice was served yesterday.
Even if Simpson was actually guilty of killing Simpson and Goldman, his sentence for the robbery was excessive and clearly a second attempt to punish Simpson for the murders, which is wrong.
Granting Simpson parole was the right thing because based on the crime for which he was convicted, no one else would have received such a lengthy sentence.
