Doug Gottlieb in for Colin:
Eagles can’t play the underdog card anymore
The Eagles rode the underdog label all the way to a Super Bowl title, and have continued to embrace it in celebrating their victory, highlighted by center Jason Kelce’s rousing parade speech.
Doug thinks the underdog role worked for this year’s team, but it’s time for the Eagles to retire it since they’ll be the clear cut favorite in the NFC for the foreseeable future. Even though Philly wants to be seen as disrespected and counted out, calling themselves underdogs after winning it all is a stretch.
Cavs roster shakeup is more about personalities than X’s and O’s
The Cavs blew up their roster at the trade deadline and GM Kobe Altman admitted that the team needed a big change or risked continuing an irreversible downward spiral.
Doug agrees with Altman, and thinks the trade shows that as much talent wins in the NBA, it’s hard to be successful without chemistry and a meshing of personalities. The Cavs lineup looked good on paper before the year, but the actual product was a disaster driven by petty beefs and personal agendas.
