Doug Gottlieb in for Colin:
Cavs would be better off with DeAndre Jordan than their deadline haul
The Cavs and GM Koby Altman have drawn rave reviews around the NBA for their trade deadline roster reformation, but Doug thinks that a deal for DeAndre Jordan that reportedly fell apart at the last minute would have been them better in the postseason.
He believes the Cavs added bench help and more balance with their acquisitions, but Jordan would have been a formidable force as a defender and rim protector against the Warriors and other top teams from in the West in the playoffs.
Most people think Cleveland hit a deadline home run. Doug sees a missed opportunity.
Regular season struggles are no reason to panic about the Warriors
The Warriors have struggled to the finish of the first half of the NBA season. It’s the first time since their initial title run where they’ve shown any signs of weakness, but Doug refuses to freak out.
He believes that after 3 trips to the Finals, the Warriors are showing understandable signs of mental fatigue, but like many teams with multiple title runs, are just bored with the regular season. Be careful about drawing far reaching conclusions from a slump in the dog days of the regular season. If healthy, the Warriors are still the favorites.
