Gottlieb in for Colin:
Training camp over-coverage made Brady’s blowup a thing
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are coming off the most tumultuous relationship of their near 20-year relationship, and some are reading into Brady punting out of a football frustration as another sign that he’s frustrated with the direction of the team.
Gottlieb doesn’t deny that Brady was frustrated in the moment, but thinks the story is overblown because training camp is now heavily covered by the media, where before no one cared or covered it. Brady did blow up, but in context it’s irrelevant.
Houston will have a problem if Carmelo doesn’t accept a 6th man role
Carmelo Anthony is finally, officially a Rocket, and Doug thinks Melo’s willingness to accept a reduced role is the only way it can work in Houston. Anthony scoffed at the idea of coming off the bench with the Thunder, last year, and Doug thinks it’s far from a sure bet he’ll fall in lline in Houston.
Ultimately, Melo will have to set aside his ego in favor of winning, and to this point in his career he hasn’t shown he’s willing to make the change.
