Doug Gottlieb in for Colin:
Dez Bryant can still have success if he evolves like Larry Fitzgerald
It’s clear to most people that Dez Bryant isn’t the receiver he was a couple of years ago, except to Dez Bryant. Doug doesn’t think Bryant will ever be a bonafide #1 receiver in the NFL again, but he can still have success if he’s willing to accept he’s diminished and reinvent himself, and his game, like Larry Fitzgerald has done in Arizona over the last several years.
In order to do this, Dez will first have to admit that he’s not as dominant like he once was. Right now he’s not willing to entertain the idea he should take a pay cut.
James Harrison traded his Steelers legacy for pocket change
Several Steelers spoke out publicly to fight back against the narrative that James Harrison was mistreated by the organization when he was cut. Maurkice Pouncey, Bud Dupree and Mike Mitchell all characterized Harrison as selfish and unwilling to mentor younger players in his reduced role.
Doug understands the business of the NFL, but with Harrison only due to make around $59,000, he is essentially trading his legacy in Pittsburgh for pocket change.
