Darnold got the keys to the car, Baker got his learner’s permit
On the season finale of Hard Knocks, Browns coach Hue Jackson informed Baker Mayfield that he would start the season as the backup to Tyrod Taylor, while Sam Darnold has already been named the starter with the Jets.
Colin compared the decision to start Darnold and sit Mayfield to parents with kids who get to driving age. Darnold is ready to get the keys to the car, and Mayfield is only ready for his learner’s permit. Mayfield will win games in his career, but Darnold already looks like he’s on another level and is ready to drive the car on his own.
Aaron Rodgers is the real loser in the Khalil Mack deal
The Bears made the trade of the NFL offseason when they pulled off a deal with the Raiders to land All-Pro stud pass rusher Khalil Mack from the Raiders, and while Colin thinks Oakland made a big mistake by not signing Mack long-term, today he said the biggest loser in the deal is Aaron Rodgers.
Not only does Rodgers now have to face Mack’s harassment twice a year until he retires, the Packers also missed a golden opportunity to give him long needed defensive help by not trying to land Mack with picks they have available. He deserves better, but instead it’s more of the same.
