Brady vs. Rivers is a battle of luckiest vs. unluckiest
Philip Rivers will attempt to slay Tom Brady and the Patriots’ dynasty in Foxboro this weekend, and Colin thinks a big difference in the career paths of the two Hall of Famers is just dumb luck.
Colin isn’t arguing that Brady isn’t the G.O.A.T QB, but it would be disingenuous not to acknowledge that he’s had just about every advantage a quarterback could want since entering the NFL. He was drafted into playing for the greatest coach of all-time, one of the best owners in the league, and one of the most stable franchises. The Tuck Rule play didn’t hurt either. Meanwhile, Rivers has excelled as much as he can being drafted by a cheap owner, revolving door of coaches, and even a chaotic relocation to deal with, and there’s nothing he could do about it.
