Brady deserves better than the supporting cast Belichick is giving him
The Patriots lost to the Lions on Sunday Night Football, and looked offensively inept for the second week in a row. Colin thinks Tom Brady is still a top tier QB, but his receiving corp lacks any playmakers and his offensive line is second rate.
Compared to the Rams or the Chiefs, who have been adding stars like they’re buy one get one free, the Pats look like they’re not using the same salary cap. After taking pay cuts for his entire career, Brady deserves better than what Belichick is giving him. This supporting cast is as bad as he’s ever had.
NFL’s new roughing rule is good for the game
NFL fans and media are in an uproar over the new roughing the passer rule that prohibits defensive players from driving QB’s to the ground and landing on them with their full body weight. Yesterday, Clay Matthews was flagged for the second time in two weeks with a borderline roughing call, only adding to the outrage. Colin disagrees with those railing against the rule.
Today in The Herd, he said that the NFL taking additional steps to protect quarterbacks is good for the overall product, even if it means some questionable flags because there’s nothing worse for the game than losing star quarterbacks to injury and being forced to watch a sub par back up replacement.
