‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich and ‘The Ice Man’ George Gervin were two of the biggest stars of the 1970’s NBA, and two of the greatest pure scorers to ever play in the league.

Even though the Finals were broadcast on tape delay, the network powers that be at CBS made the incredibly wise decision to create a televised HORSE tournament with some of the league’s biggest stars. By luck of the draw, Maravich and Gervin wound up head-to-head in an early round matchup of legendary scoring machines.

Maravich beats The Ice Man with some crafty HORSE specific shots like shooting from sitting down and even a granny shot, but we’re the real winners. This is some quality 70’s Saturday TV viewing.
