Deadly storms have battered Mississippi all week, and the nerves of the meteorologists at the local news stations are apparently wearing thin.

At WTAV news Tupelo, Chief Meteorologist Matt Laubhan – 4-time Emmy Winner according to his Facebook – was bringing his viewing audience the latest updates on incoming twisters with game day intensity. His slacking non-chief meteorologist, “John,” was not.

Instead of handling things discreetly during the commercial break, Laubhan decided to call out John for being on his phone on live TV, followed up the temper tantrum by clapping at John like a dog, and didn’t hesitate to blame him for missing some key Doppler info. You can almost see his head explode.

There’s only one way to cover the weather when you’re a chief meteorologist, John, with the intensity of 1,000 burning suns. Take some notes, John, or just quit, Matt seems like a total nightmare.

Watch the drama unfold in a mastercut presented by Kimmel:

And say what you want about Matt’s tone, but the dude has a passionate love affair with covering weather. Back in 2014, he stayed on the air until an incoming tornado knocked out the live feed. John had apparently already packed up for the night. That’s how you make CHIEF meteorologist.
