Old school NBA’ers criticizing current NBA players as soft is nothing new, and it’s no secret that many older NBA heads had a problem with Kevin Durant opting to join the stacked Warriors in free agency, and an EZ pass to the title podium.
Knicks great Walt Frazier is among those that wasn’t a fan of the move, and told Sirius XM’s NBA Today that KD is a great player, but gets points off for joining the stacked Dubs:
“Durant, as great a player he is, I would still hold back (giving him credit) because he joined a team that really didn’t need him.
“He’s right there with LeBron, probably would’ve surpassed LeBron as the best player in the game soon, but for him doing that I still don’t give him the full credit that he probably would’ve deserved if he stayed in OKC and won a title with that team.”
Frazier wasn’t done, and added, “There will be an asterisk by [Durant’s] name” for joining the Warriors when it comes to his ranking on the all-time list. Some will agree with Frazier, others will call it old school NBA player hatin’, but Clyde’s opinion isn’t uncommon for the older crowd. Be on the lookout for comments from @KevinDurantFan0087.
Knicks HOFer Walt Frazier told me Kevin Durant will be down on the all-time list & have an asterisk next to his name bc he joined the Warriors. pic.twitter.com/ctKRtmtKrz
