NBA Draft night is the night when dreams come true and millionaires are made, unless you don’t get drafted. NBA Finals star Fred VanVleet was one of the undrafted in 2016, and had to man up  and break the news to his family and friends at his NBA Draft party that he wouldn’t be picked, and to drink up!

VanVleet tells his peeps that he declined two offers to get drafted because he didn’t want to be locked into a minimum wage G-League contract, instead he would bet on himself against all odds. Never. A. Doubt.

For a guy who’s sitting on the top of the NBA world right now and about to get paid big money, this is literally the start of his pro journey with the world against him, at the complete bottom of the ladder. They don’t ask when you were drafted on the Finals podium.

If this doesn’t get you motivated, it just ain’t happening for you today.

Damn just rewatched this. 3 years ago, Fred VanVleet got up in front of everyone at his draft party and had to tell them he didn’t get drafted. Now look at him. For some dudes, this event doesn’t mean shit. (credit: FVVTV/YouTube) pic.twitter.com/WBD2hrFlPz
