Why 2024 Team USA Basketball is Even Greater than the 1992 Dream Team

Watch Danny Parkins, guest-hosting for Colin Cowherd on The Herd, explain why he thinks 2024 Team USA is the most talented men’s Olympic basketball team in history – topping even the legendary 1992 Dream Team.

Check out the segment below as Parkins goes through the roster and details the strengths it holds over other gold medal-winning national teams in Olympics past.

Danny Perkins: “I know this sounds sacrilegious and I know this sounds ridiculous, but this is the most talented Team USA roster that we’ve ever had. It is top to bottom more talented than the Dream Team. The Dream Team was more impactful, the Dream Team will win by a higher margin of victory – it wasn’t fair. It was the first time NBA players were allowed to play. Charles Barkley had the famous line ‘I don’t know anything about Angola, but they’re in trouble’... The rest of the world has caught up to USA basketball. In terms of 12 people on a team together – I agree with Steve Kerr – it's got 12 Hall of Famers. That 2020 team; Jerami Grant was on the team, JaVale McGee was on the team. Trivia question: does anyone know who Keldon Johnson was? He’s got a gold medal from 2020. No disrespect to Keldon Johnson but he’s not exactly Devin Booker or Tyrese Haliburton, who might be the 12th man on this team. In 2016, Harrison Barnes and DeAndre Jordan... Nice players and served a role, but not all-time guys, and not Hall of Famers. The 2008 ‘Redeem Team’, probably the most famous Team USA since the Dream Team. That team: Michael Redd, Tayshaun Prince... I just don’t see how this 2024 team loses, and they’ve got every motivation to lock in and be dominant."
