Colin Cowherd: “If I just gave you 4 parameters and said ‘there’s a football team out there that has four things’ – really, really clever offensive coach, a quarterback who has won playoff games and is a veteran, super-physical team on both sides of the ball, and they’ve got some really good weapons – THAT’S a playoff team, that’s the Niners. The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t feel like a playoff team, the Saints almost got in – they don’t feel like a playoff team. The Niners had Green Bay beat, they swept the Rams, they beat the Bengals, they beat Philadelphia, they beat multiple playoff teams. They really have all the boxes checked. I know none of you like Jimmy Garoppolo and he drives you nuts, but I’ve said it 1,000 times and I’ll say it again, he’s the opposite of Kirk Cousins. He’s BETTER in primetime games, he’s BETTER with two minutes left, he’s BETTER with no timeouts. I don’t know if he doesn’t overthink it and just lets it rip, but that 88 yards in five plays was sooo Jimmy Garoppolo. You’ve all hated on him but this sport is about BIG moments, that’s who has Super Bowl rings. I know you all point to the Super Bowl but they led Mahomes and the best offense on the planet for three quarters. It wasn’t just mishitting on that deep throw, Brady has had pick-sixes in Super Bowls. THIS is what a playoff team looks like, they look like San Francisco. ‘Physical’ travels and I think they’ll beat Dallas. ‘Pretty’ teams are good at home, but physical teams travel. Green Bay is good at home, but would Green Bay historically be as good on the road if you look at their playoff record? They’re not. Green Bay is ‘pretty’, and San Francisco is not. That’s why Tennessee is a nightmare to play. This is what playoff teams look like – good coaches, physical teams, can do multiple things well, they’ve got weapons, and they’ve won playoff games with a quarterback like a Garoppolo or Tannehill.” (Full Video Above)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he’s picking the San Francisco 49ers to upset the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the NFL Playoffs next week, as Colin thinks Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is painfully underrated and the antithesis of Kirk Cousins in big games.
