The first Presidential debate is tonight. Hillary versus The Don is poised to shatter all debate viewer records and crush tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Falcons and Saints.
Today, Jason and Colin held a Presidential Debate-style Speak for Yourself, to let the viewers know where they stand on the key issues affecting the American sports landscape. Podiums, check. Moderator (Jason McIntyre), check. Candidates attacking their opponents, check. Let’s get it on.
The first major issue the candidates tackled was whether Odell Beckham Jr.’s sideline temper tantrum cost the Giants a win against Washington yesterday.
Jason took the position that Beckham attacking a kicker’s net, criticizing his quarterback, and having a sideline breakdown were the reasons the Giants lost the game. It certainly didn’t help make the Giants great again. He also used his response to trash the opposing candidate.
“Odell Beckham is the reason the Giants lost this game, and he’s the reason I should win this debate. Colin Cowherd is another person who can’t control his emotions. He’ll probably defend Odell Beckham, because he’s a diva, just like Odell Beckham, Jr.”
Shots fired! Colin admitted that Beckham’s tantrum didn’t help, but the Giants loss is a team loss. Colin doesn’t think that certain candidates pointing fingers to assign individual blame shows the leadership the people want.
“You can talk about all the peripheral issues. I’ve, as a candidate, always liked to get to the core message. The New York Giants and the team is to blame. Not a diva wide receiver, not just a quarterback. You go look at the numbers of three turnovers and 11 penalties. You simply don’t win when you’re that irresponsible. And again, there is one responsible candidate standing here today.”
So who won? Cowherd or Whitlock? We’ll have to wait and see until the votes are counted on election day, but Cowherd holds a commanding lead in Twitter followers that looks like it will be difficult to overcome.
