Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will reportedly be joining NBC as a studio analyst for its Sunday Night Football pregame show during the 2026 NFL season, the Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported on Tuesday (April 21).
"NEWS: Mike Tomlin is headed to NBC and Football Night in America, The Athletic has learned," Marchand wrote on his X account.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in January that Tomlin didn't plan to coach during the 2026 season despite teams having contacted him to express interest ahead of the coaching hiring cycle. The 53-year-old is a former Super Bowl champion and was the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL, having finished with a winning record in all of his 19 seasons with the Steelers, but hadn't won a playoff game since 2016.
Tomlin was hired by the Steelers ahead of the 2007 season and went 193-114-2 in the regular season, which is tied with late Pro Football Hall of Famer Chuck Noll for the most in franchise history, and 8-12 in the postseason. The veteran coach's addition to NBC Sports' NFL coverage followed a recent staff shakeup which saw Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy's firing after 17 years with the network.
Host Maria Taylor and analysts Devin McCourty and Jason Garrett are expected to return in 2026, but the futures of Jac Collinsworth, Chris Simms and Rodney Harrison still haven't been determined, according to the Athletic.
