A snorkeler named Tayane Dalazen was attacked by a nurse shark while freediving in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, Brazil. The incident, captured on video, shows the 36-year-old surrounded by several sharks before one lunges and bites her leg, dragging her toward the seabed. Dalazen, accompanied by two friends and a tour guide, struggled to free herself until the guide intervened.

After the attack, Dalazen received assistance from nearby fishermen and first aid from a dermatologist friend. She was then taken to a hospital for further treatment and later discharged. Despite the ordeal, Dalazen reassured her social media followers that she was fine, joking about the incident by saying, "The shark must be missing a tooth." She added, "Will I have a scar? Yes. But I'll be a surfer with a shark scar."

The attack occurred near a fishermen's association, a popular spot for tourists to observe sharks. The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation is investigating the incident, emphasizing that feeding wild animals is prohibited in the conservation area. They warned that inappropriate interactions with marine life can increase risks.

This incident follows another recent shark attack in the US Virgin Islands, where a Minnesota woman died after being bitten while snorkeling.
