Michael Jordan Completes NBC’s Throwback NBA Opening Night

From “Roundball Rock” to Michael Jordan, NBC’s broadcast of NBA’s Opening Night was an unabashed tribute to the ‘90’s when the NBA was immensely popular and dominating the ratings. And the product on the floor was equally compelling as some of the sport’s biggest stars took the floor. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led his defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder to victory in a double-overtime thriller against Kevin Durant and the new-look Houston Rockets, while Steph Curry and his Warriors took down Luka Dončić as he got his first full season with the Lakers underway.

Doug Gottlieb: “The whole reason you have (Michael) Jordan, the whole reason you have ‘Roundball Rock,’ is to kind of wake up those memories in your mind of 30 years ago, back when NBA was king.”
