After two weeks of hype, the Super Bowl kicks off on Sunday, and today in The Herd Colin broke down the matchup and made his game pick.
The Patriots come in as 4.5 point favorites and, not surprisingly, Colin gives the edge to New England because of their clear cut advantages at coach, quarterback, and experience dealing with the emotion and hype surrounding the game.
The Eagles are on an emotional high of their blowout win against Minnesota, but since 2000, teams that have won the NFC Championship Game by 20 or more points are 0-5 in the Super Bowl. Philly is also missing starting quarterback Carson Wentz, starting tackle Jason Peters, and starting linebacker Jordan Hicks. Also, Belichick and Brady versus Foles and Pederson. Say it out loud.
Colin thinks New England will grab an early lead which will make Nick Foles less effective playing from behind. It should be close in the first half, but look for Brady and Belichick to take control late.
Patriots win and cover the 4.5. 31-21.
