Ohio State’s decision to suspend Urban Meyer for the first three games of the 2018 season, rather than fire him for his actions in the wake of learning of an alleged 2015 domestic violence incident involving former wide receivers coach Zach Smith and his wife has drawn heavy criticism from the media and fans, but Colin isn’t surprised. He actually predicted the outcome in a tweet when the story broke.
Prediction…Urban keeps job. Brief suspension. Media attacks decision. Buckeyes win a bunch of games. Bama wins natty over Clemson. The end.

The unpleasant truth is that Meyer probably wouldn’t have been fired if he was a mediocre coach, but he’s 73-8 and 47-3 in conference since taking over the Buckeyes and has won a national championship. The end. The Ohio State investigation was never about finding a reason to Urban, it was about finding a way to keep him.
