Colin: Sixers taking Markelle Fultz could be the draft mistake of the decade

On the tail of former Bryan Colangelo resigning as GM of the Sixers following a bizarre Twitter burner account scandal, a report has leaked out that Colangelo overruled other Philly execs in order to draft Markelle Fultz with the first overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft.

As many know, Fultz was injured for most of the season, and only made news when videos of him seemingly unable to shoot a basketball went viral. By any estimation, his rookie year was a massive bust, especially when compared to #3 pick Jayson Tatum, who looks like a future superstar in Boston.

Beyond just being a flop on the court, the Fultz pick could also indirectly cost Philly a chance to land LeBron James. Colin thinks if Philly had drafted Tatum, the roster would be impossible for James to pass up, and would be set up to dominate the East and contend for titles. Instead they have Markelle Fultz.

There are draft gaffes, but the Fultz pick might be the draft mistake of the decade, and cost the Sixers a chance at a dynasty.
