Just like the Patriots in the NFL, the Spurs have been the gold standard for NBA organizations for the better part of the last 20 years, but like Bill Belichick, Gregg Popovich’s rigid dynasty is eroding and mired in drama that would have been unthinkable at its peak.
As Belichick now faces the uphill battle of getting players to buy in to “The Patriot Way” with Brady no longer buying in 100%, Popovich’s Spurs have declined since Tim Duncan hung it up. Colin thinks the success of these rigid dynasties is predicated on the superstars buying in and selling the message to the locker room. Without superstars to spread the message, Belichick and Pop’s dynasties are approaching the end.
