The Celtics wore down the Cavs for the second game in a row and have LeBron facing an 0-2 hole as the series heads to Cleveland. Colin picked the Cavs before the series, but doesn’t see any way they can win 4 out of 5 games with an invisible supporting cast.
In terms of legacy, he thinks LeBron is better off getting bounced by the Celtics than limping into the NBA Finals and getting swept by a Golden State team hunting dynasty status.
Historically, Finals losses become hard-wiring into fans memories, but early exits get passed over and forgotten. Even with Jordan, everyone cites his perfect Finals record, but his pre-Finals playoff losses to the Pistons and other early outs are entirely left out of the discussion. Losing to Boston is bad, but getting rolled in the Finals as a footnote on the wrong side of sports history is worse.
