Colin: Lonzo should keep starting when Rondo returns

Rajon Rondo was named starting point guard for the Lakers before the season started, partly because LeBron respects his Basketball IQ and ability to effectively run a team, but also because Lonzo Ball is fresh off a knee injury that limited his offseason and has been playing catch up as the season gets underway.

With Rondo serving the first of a three game suspension because of his fight with Chris Paul, Lonzo started against Phoenix in the Lakers first win of the season last night, and based on what he saw, Colin thinks he should remain the starting point guard even when Rondo gets back.

The Suns are awful, but it gave them a blueprint of a style of play that can win with. Lonzo is better suited for the breakneck pace L.A. played last night in scoring 131 points to beat the Suns, and will have to play all year, to make up for their lack of three-point shooting. Rondo is a high assist total guy, but is notorious for pounding the ball into the floor and won’t get the ball up the floor like Lonzo will.

Watch Colin explain why Luke Walton should stick with Lonzo, even when Rondo returns.
